  2. 375 Win VS. 38-55? - Marlin Firearms Forum

    www.marlinowners.com/threads/375-win-vs-38-55.657528

MOOSE EARS. My 375Win model 94 shoots standard length 38-55's just as well as 375's. Some 38-55 bores are 0.379-0.381, needing larger diameter bullets for accuracy. I have 265gr 0.379-0.380 LFNGC lubed bullets shooting in both rifles with no accuracy issues. Chamber it for 38-55 and you can run either cartridge.

  3. Finally Found a Good Black Powder Load For My 38-55

    www.marlinowners.com/.../finally-found-a-good-black-powder-load-for-my-38-55.38520

I bought a 336 CB in 38-55 about six months ago for cowboy action shooting (Cody Dixon matches), and have been searching for a really good black powder load for it. I have now achieved success! The rifle likes 46 grains of Goex Express FFFg with a 0.030" fiber wad and 255 grain Big Lube bullet. The group below is 1-1/8".

  4. 38-55 and 375 interchange. | Marlin Firearms Forum

Both the 375 and 38-55 have the same overall chamber length, distance from bolt face to lands. Factory loaded and properly hand loaded 375 ammo will not function correctly in a 38-55. The case is too large in diameter (.008 larger than 38-55) and the bullet is too small (.005 smaller than 38-55). The difference is in the case wall thickness.

  5. 35 Remington vs 360 Buckhammer Ballistics - Marlin Firearms Forum

    www.marlinowners.com/threads/35-remington-vs-360-buckhammer-ballistics.655427

I am ambivalent on this whole Buckhammer vs 35 Remington thing. If I was starting fresh, I'd give the Buckhammer a whirl. Ammo & brass for it will be much easier to find than 35 Remington, at least for awhile. And unlike the 35 Remington, there's an endless supply of brass available from the 30-30 case. No funky little shoulder to sort out, either.

  7. Imperial and Dominion 38-55....Hot or Not??? - Marlin Firearms...

    www.marlinowners.com/threads/imperial-and-dominion-38-55-hot-or-not.22628

So it is hotter than the american made stuff. I was curious because I've seen some of those Canadian brands of ammo on some of the auction sites. I've read that the 38-55 was popular in days past in the Canadian backwoods, so I wondered what the ballistics were. 1600fps with a 255gr. bullet must have worked very well for them ;D.

  8. 38/55 vs 30/30 for hunting? - Marlin Firearms Forum

    www.marlinowners.com/threads/38-55-vs-30-30-for-hunting.59790

The cool factor is to the moon on either, both do a superb job up to black bear and hogs and beyond depending on the rifleman using them. 38-55 takes over with bullet wgt when needed with standard wgt running at 250gns vs 170 for the 30-30. Most reborers re stamp the gun with the rebore cal. If you load for a 30-30 click.

  9. 375 shoots 38-55 | Marlin Firearms Forum

    www.marlinowners.com/threads/375-shoots-38-55.105464

The 375 Win. is NOT available in older rifles, the original post was concerning using the companies 38-55 ammo in a rifle chambered in 375 Win., not the other way around. Just trying to keep this on track. DP. TEAM 444 #187, Team 35 #7, Two Marlin 1894Cs, Remlin 1894C, 1894-44mag, 1966 Texan 30-30.

A 43 caliber rifle (which is what a 44 really is) would use about a 350-400 grain bullet in a large case. Consider a similar rifle case, which is the 38-55. This is about the smallest 38 caliber rifle in use and has modest ballistics, but was originally used as a 200 yard cartridge for Schuetzen matches.

  11. 38-56 WCF reloading advice | Marlin Firearms Forum

    www.marlinowners.com/threads/38-56-wcf-reloading-advice.652499

I'm confused. There is no .38-56 WCF, the thread title, but there is a .38-56 Marlin. There is a .38-55 WCF, but it is different than the .38-56 Marlin dimensionally. Have I missed something in this thread? Edit add-on: I just learned there is a .38-56 WCF. Thank goodness for the Internet. My mistake. Ya learn something every day.
