The Clérigos Church (Portuguese: Igreja dos Clérigos, pronounced [ˈklɛɾiɣuʃ]; "Church of the Clergymen") is a Baroque church in the city of Porto, in Portugal.Its 75-meter-tall bell tower, the Torre dos Clérigos, can be seen from various points of the city and is one of its most characteristic symbols.
A fire, caused by the siege of Porto in 1832, destroyed the old cloisters. In its place, the Commercial Association of the city built the Stock Exchange Palace (Palácio da Bolsa), a magnificent example of 19th century Neoclassical architecture.

A stock exchange (Bolsa do Porto, 1834 – 1910 [44]) was also established in the city but was discontinued in 1910 following the implementation of the Republic, with the building being returned to the Association in 1911. [45] Unrest by Republicans led to the 31 January 1891 revolt in Porto, the first uprising against the Portuguese monarchy.
