Te Awamutu is a town in the Waikato region in the North Island of New Zealand. It is the council seat of the Waipa District and serves as a service town for the farming communities which surround it. Te Awamutu is located some 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of Hamilton on State Highway 3, one of the two main routes south from Auckland and Hamilton.
Brian Timothy Finn was born on 25 June 1952 in Te Awamutu, New Zealand, [1] weighing 10 pounds at birth, to parents Richard and Mary. [2] [3] He has two sisters, and one younger brother, Neil Finn.
Tim and Neil intended to start the Finn brothers project after a three-week song writing spree in 1989. However, most of the songs written during this time were deemed suitable for inclusion on a Crowded House album and they appeared on Woodface, which was released in 1991 and led to Tim joining Crowded House.
