Add the fennel seeds and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, sugar and fennel fronds. Remove the chutney from the heat, season with salt and pepper and let cool to room temperature. Discard the thyme and serve the chutney with the toasts.

Huaniu (花牛), also known as Chinese Red Delicious is an apple cultivar originating in China. It is named after Huaniu town, Tianshui, where it was first planted as a hybrid of ten varieties of apple trees, including Red Delicious, Golden Delicious and Ralls Janet in 1956. [1] The apple has a sweet taste comparable with Fuji apples. [2]
