Wuxia literally translates to "martial hero", it's stories of supernatural martial artists, but still within some reason. A wuxia hero might run on walls, leap over buildings or fight numerous opponents alone. Xianxia translates to "immortal hero", and is something of an extrapolation of the wuxia genre with influences of old daoist practices ...

In Wuxia, people are real humans and humans only. But in Xianxia, people can be Gods, demons, spirits, monsters, all sorts of animals and plants (because Chinese believe everything can grow into a spirit/god). In xianxia, a human/spirit/demon can become a God through some sort of hard work and study LOL.

I think this is probably the most simple explanation that I found on google 😂. Makes sense.

Xianxia (仙侠) is relatively new. It's supposed to be similar to wuxia (wuxia was first considered as its own genre, and several xianxia elements are also taken from wuxia). The second word of xianxia, is also the same xia from wuxia. It's also supposed to be about the same thing - the concept of chivalry and heroism, doing the right thing ...

For exemple Thousand autumns. The characters in wuxia also resemble more ordinary humans who become powerful by practicing martial arts with a fantasy touch, while in some xianxia novels they are often supernatural beings like demons, deities, gods etc. Ooh okay thank you! That makes sense now from what I've read.
