The original school was a building in the neighborhood before moving into what is now Montgomery Middle School located at 2470 Ulric Street San Diego, CA 92111. The Class of 1943, was the first graduating class. In September 1946, Army ROTC was introduced on-campus and SGT Eakes was the instructor.
San Diego High School (SDHS) is an urban public high school located on the southern edge of Balboa Park in San Diego, California, United States. [2] It is the oldest high school in the San Diego Unified School District, one of the oldest public schools in California, and the oldest in the state still on its original site.
It is part of San Diego Unified School District. Madison's 50-acre (200,000 m 2 ) campus opened in 1962. [ 2 ] Serving almost 1,100 students in grades 9–12, it is located in the Clairemont Mesa East neighborhood, north of Balboa Ave, south of Clairemont Mesa Blvd, and west of Interstate 805 .
The school is named after the Clairemont community in which it is located. When Clairemont opened its doors in 1958, it consisted of no senior class, a junior class (class of 1960) consisting mostly of transfers from Mission Bay High School in nearby Pacific Beach and Kearny High School, and a sophomore class (class of 1961) coming from its neighbor, Marston Junior High.
Mira Mesa High School offers several language programs, including Spanish, French, and Filipino. Students at the high school are required to take at least two years of a foreign language class, while the school recommends 3 according to college acceptance standards.
