Steven Robert Alten (born August 20, 1959) is an American science-fiction author. He is best known for his Meg series of novels set around the fictitious survival of the megalodon , a giant, prehistoric shark .
However, in July 2007, New Line canceled the production. Steve Alten had said that once his relationship with New Line was finally over, he would be taking the property elsewhere.
