The Toyota VZ engine family is a series of V6 gasoline piston engines ranging from 2.0 to 3.4 L (1,992 to 3,378 cc) in displacement and both SOHC and DOHC configurations. [1] It was Toyota's first V6 engine, being made as a response to Nissan ’s VG engine , one of Japan's first mass-produced V6 engines.
The Mecachrome V634 Turbo 3.4-litre single-turbocharged direct-injected Mecachrome V6 engine is an evolution of the GP3 engine, which is the solely supplied engine for the FIA Formula 2 Championship. With the addition of a single turbo, the engine underwent rigorous dyno testing, ahead of its racing debut.
A cast-iron high-swirl cylinder head was developed, and the new 2.3 L engine was designated the HSC to differentiate it from the same displacement 2.3 L OHC design. This engine shared many common parts with the 200, and it is common for persons rebuilding their 200 engines to use the 2.3 L HSC pistons as a cheap replacement. [citation needed]
It also replaced the 250 cu in (4.1 L) in the Chevrolet and GMC full-size trucks and full-size vans, and in 1990, it replaced the 292 cu in (4.8 L) in the Step-Vans as the new base six-cylinder engine. The 4.3 L (262 cu in) V6 has a 4 in × 3.48 in (101.6 mm × 88.4 mm) bore and stroke, identical to the 350 cu in (5.7 L) Chevrolet V8 engine.
It was only finally dropped as a possible production engine later in 1953, by which time it had been realised that Jaguar's image in the market had moved beyond the need for a replacement for the old 1.5-litre Standard 4-cylinder unit. Because the 6-cylinder XK prototypes were found to be so much more refined than the 4-cylinder versions, in ...
The LQ1 (also called the Twin Dual Cam or TDC) was a 3.4 L (3,350 cc) DOHC V6 engine ("X-code") based on the aluminum-headed second generation of GM's 60° engine line, sharing a similar block with its pushrod cousins, the 3.1 L LH0 V6 and the then recently retired 2.8 L (2,837 cc) LB6 V6.
