An all-weather polyurethane Tartan track, similar to the Olympic venue, was constructed for the men's trials at Echo Summit, west of South Lake Tahoe. Just off U.S. Route 50 , it was built in the summer of 1968 in the parking lot of Nebelhorn ski area, at an elevation of 7,377 feet (2,249 m).
The team competes in NCAA Division II and is a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. California University's first football team was fielded in 1916. The Vulcans play home games at the 6,500-seat Hepner–Bailey Field at Adamson Stadium on their campus, and are coached by Gary Dunn. [2]
