The Firebirds have a tradition of excellence in all sports. For the 2008–09 academic year, the university's mascot was changed to Burgy the warrior bear. In 2017 a new mascot was unveiled, that of an ancient warrior. All teams compete in the NCAA Division II and within the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Athletic Training services are provided for each intercollegiate sport.
