Daffy's subsequent pigeon act goes awry when the birds escape, forcing him to exit the stage in disgrace, only to be hit with a tomato. Bugs then performs a sawing-in-half trick, and Daffy volunteers, hoping to expose it as fake, but ends up literally sawed in half. Daffy next sabotages Bugs' xylophone, rigging it to explode on a specific note.
Amidst this chaos, Daffy Duck sings "Don't Sweetheart Me" by Lawrence Welk. Elmer's antics continue as he tries to shoot Daffy, but he complains that he is now henpecked due to being forced into marriage and becoming the father of many ducklings, including a two-headed one, the last time he was shot. He then traps Elmer in his own hat.

Ripostes on both sides are thrown: 1: Daffy attempts to move all his firewood indoors, but Speedy ambushes him and quickly steals a log.
