A few things: Specialty rankings don’t really mean anything - they’re not based in employment statistics at all. 40k barely covers one year of living expenses at SCU (total COA via their website would be around 265k). 30% of their students don’t have full time bar requiring positions after graduation, and less than 20% get big law (250+).
Santa Clara is a bad choice for anyone who wants to be a lawyer after graduation. Hey! I am a 1L at Santa Clara law who found Reddit utterly unhelpful when deciding if it was a decent school. One thing to keep in mind is where you want to practice. If you want to practice in the Bay Area and in tech, SCU is great.
Anything about the law school would be helpful. Not amazing. Just 58% of their grads are working as lawyers 10 months after graduation. 19 are totally unemployed at that same point in time. Their course offerings don’t change the employment outlook. SF is a tough market, but these job stats aren’t promising.
Hi, I was accepted to Santa Clara University Law School with no scholarship and California Western Law School with a conditional scholarship of 50% for my first year. I was not accept to any other schools I applied to. I've read up quite a bit on each and it seems like each has their pros and cons. I heard SCU is a good school for someone that ...
My application has been in committee for over 3 months. Considering contacting the admissions office, but don't want to seem like a bother. 1. Reply. Award. Has anyone who applied in the normal cycle (not early decision) heard back yet? My application only went into committee in early Feb and now I’m….
Post any questions you have, there are lots of redditors with admissions knowledge waiting to help. Anyone applied to Santa Clara Law? Mostly just mild panicking before submitting my apps. Would love to hear success stories here and if you don’t mind sharing your stats and date of application.
Chance me Santa Clara law school. General. From Boise Idaho but went to UC Berkeley and just graduated in may in three years with an economics degree. 3.45 from Berkeley and then 3.64 with all my community college classes counting. Going to take a gap year and work at a law firm as a receptionist and save some money.
DrRawJaw. • 6 yr. ago. I worked for an attorney who allowed a 2L student to do his client billing for several months for free so that she could say on her Santa Clara Law School resume that she had paralegal experience. This attorney runs a for-profit business and cannot accept volunteer labor.
UC Hastings vs Santa Clara University. Hi all, trying to decide between UC Hastings and SCU for IP/Patent Law. I'm currently in at SCU, and got pulled from the waitlist at Hastings. I'm getting 20k out of 44k at Hastings, and 35k out of 55k, making both schools about the same cost even after you factor in living costs.
Admissions Result. Santa Clara: $135k total scholarship, conditional on 3.0 or higher. 71 entered with scholarship and 23 reduced or eliminated (33%). Southwestern: $135k total scholarship, conditional on 2.9 or higher (previous year was 3.0). 194 entered with scholarship and 100 lost (51.60%). I’m still waiting on other schools, but seat ...
