Artesia Cemetery is a historic 14 acres (5.7 ha) cemetery in Cerritos, California. Opposite Gahr High School, it is one of the oldest cemeteries in Los Angeles County, with burials as far back as the 1860s. [5] Many of the graves from the former Poverty Bar Cemetery in Poverty Bar, Amador County were reinterred in the Pioneer Cemetery in 1962, while the East Bay Municipal Utility District worked on building Camanche Reservoir.
