TCL is the bottom of the barrel Chinese band. Since last year they have decided to venture into the mid-range wagon to improve margins with TV sets with pretentions of high-end features for mid-range money. my current go-to sites for TV sets reviews is rtings.com - highly recommend it.
External streamers like the Apple TV 4K, Nvidia Shield Pro and the Roku Ultra will have access to many more apps and configuration settings than any TV and one can get away from ARC/eARC issues. App support of atmos on those devices is more widespread than on TVs as well.
While it's easy to spec-out $1000 (I'm American) TVs and $1000 soundbars they often make little to no sense in niche applications. I would not spend over $300 on a TV for a guest/MIL room and would not want more than one remote control for them to learn/use/lose. I recently purchased a 32-inch TV for a very niche application.
The consumer will lose more in the end as less competition will see prices stabilize to a steady low point, which is not always a bad thing but the products get crappier and crappier. TCL headquarters is in China, where they design, and TVs are built in a number of countries. Our latest month old, TCL, was made/assembled in Mexico. We have been happy with their Roku and recent Google interface. My wife's TV is 3 years old and a series 5, the new one is their 55QM751G[2024].
First off is size and finish. These things are a few inches taller than the RP 8000F and a little wider. The finish and build quality is amazing. They feel like tanks and the veneer is several levels better than the nice veneer they use on the 8000F. I know some people are disappointed by the...
I have had the Yamaha, and Bose system for the past three or four years. It has been fine up to now, but since purchasing the new TV last month and upgrading to HD DirecTV, I wanted to enhance my viewing and listening experience with a new sub for effects and music. I purchased a Polk PSW111 8" sub woofer as well with the TV.
ELAN was at the Hilton today, unveiling its new S1616A, a 16-channel multi-zone amplifier/controller that combines the functionality of the ELAN D16 amplifier and S128P multi-zone controller into one new component. It's pretty cool and should simplify installations and lower the total cost for...
As per the thread title I have my eye on a pair of second hand Quadral Quintas 215s floorstanding speakers from the early 90s, currently for sale on an...
He was happy with the Denon, but wanted to move away from the Denon players given so many reports of poor reliability with more recent Denon gear. On side by side comparison, we found the Integra to be missing a lot of inner detail and a lack of mid/upper mid clarity, etc. compared to the Denon.
