The central forum is called Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC) and all the BISE's in Punjab take over the Chairmanship for one year in alphabetical order. Mr. Muhammad Adnan Khan is the current chairman of the Board. The Board was established in October, 1977.

The board conducts examinations at SSC & HSSC level. The SSC ANNUAL EXAMINATION 2020 which commenced on 22 February 2020 was postponed from 14 March 2020 to onwards and on 7 May 2020 it was announced by Federal Minister of Education, Mr. Shafqat Mehmood that this examination has been cancelled [3] for Academic Year 2019–20.
Some major obstacles faced by the education system in Pakistan include: access to education, equal opportunities, relevance, required teachers, and environment. There are parts of Pakistan where government leaders have not enacted strategies to help children attend schools. Many children live too far away from school to receive a formal education.
