The Wisconsin School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (WSBVI) is a state school that specializes in teaching the visually impaired. It is operated by the Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (WCBVI), a unit of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Founded in 1849, the school is located in Janesville, Wisconsin. [1]
The Groundbreaking Ceremony took place on October 6, 1965 [3] The campus opened in 1966 and was called "The University of Wisconsin-Rock County Center." The intent of the college was to provide affordable college education to all types of students (traditional and non-traditional) and to prepare them to transfer to a four year university.
In addition to the Central Campus, classes are also offered at the Monroe Campus in Monroe, Wisconsin, the Center for Transportation Studies in Janesville, Wisconsin, as well as other locations in Beloit, Brodhead, and Janesville. The college serves approximately 14,000 students annually – about 6,000 credit and 8,000 non-credit students.
All of the cosmetology schools incorporated eco-conscious elements such as energy and water-saving features. [ 6 ] [ 7 ] Since its peak in 2010, Empire closed 1 school in 2011, 5 schools in 2014, 10 schools in 2015, 11 schools in 2016, 8 schools in 2018, 4 schools in 2019, and 8 schools in 2020.

Frances attended the little brown school as a student for about ten months in the 1850s, then came back to teach in 1858. After her time in Janesville, she studied in Milwaukee and points beyond, earning M.S., M.A., and L.L.D. degrees. She went on to be the president of Evanston College for Ladies and Dean of Women at Northwestern University.
