Published order: Some books are more standalone and can be read at any time, so I would recommend moving them around so that you aren't switching between each series as much. Here's the order I recommend: Recommended order: This order is a compromise that gives you mostly published order, but also groups each series together into more cohesive ...
Apart from the Foundation and Robot series, Asimov's works aren't interrelated very strongly. So apart from the Robots quadrilogy (Caves of Steel, Naked Sun, Robots of Dawn and Robots and Empire) and the Foundation series (original trilogy, two sequels, and two prequels) which should be read in order, there is little in the way of spoilers.
Foundation's Edge (1982) The sixth Foundation novel. Foundation and Earth (1983) The seventh Foundation novel. The list is based on Asimov's list of fictional chronological order in the forward to Prelude to Foundation With one correction. Asimov apparently put The Currents of Space before The Stars Like Dust by mistake.
The publication order is: Foundation (1951) Foundation and Empire (1952) Second Foundation (1953) Foundation's Edge (1982) Foundation and Earth (1986) Prelude to Foundation (1988) Forward the Foundation (1993) I don't think there are spoilers if you read it in chronological order. However, I would recommend reading the Robot Series of Asimov first.
After completing the Foundation series of novels by Asimov, I planned to read the Robot series. When placing my order online, I found that some novels and stories are included in others. (For example, Naked Sun is present in The Rest of the Robots, and there is I, Robot and Complete Robots which have similar stories.)
It is very possible. Both books are collections of short stories, with some recurring characters like Dr. Calvin, and could be read in either order. Other than the 3 laws, the movie does not even try to be related to the book, and none of the short stories in the book share the plot of the movie.
According to ISFDb, and discounting all alternate titles, translations and 2 non-genre novels (The Death Dealers and Murder at the ABA), Asimov wrote 37 novels: Pebble in the Sky (1950) The Stars, Like Dust (1951) David Starr, Space Ranger (1952) The Currents of Space (1952)
First two books is a Prequel (but!, this two books were written almost 5-10 years after the original pentalogy were published): Prelude to Foundation; Forward the Foundation; The main pentalogy: Foundation; Foundation and Empire; Second Foundation; Foundation's Edge; Foundation and Earth; That's how I read and how the plot is developed.
Many of Asimov's science fiction novels, either by original design or later retconning, take place in the same shared universe. Most prominently in that universe, we find Hari Seldon's "Foundation" - but the Robot novels, Pebbles in the Sky, The Currents of Space and many others all take place in this same "shared universe."
Now I've been wondering is there any other book where Susan Calvin or Powell (2 engineers) makes an appearance? The engineers are Greg Powell and Mike Donovan. Fun fact: the name "Mike Donovan" was used as a homage for one of the main characters of the TV series "V" (which was unrelated to Asimov and was about invading reptiloid aliens ...
