Alice Hoffman (born March 16, 1952) is an American novelist and young-adult and children's writer, best known for her 1995 novel Practical Magic, which was adapted for a 1998 film of the same name. Many of her works fall into the genre of magic realism and contain elements of magic , irony , and non-standard romances and relationships.
In 1985, shortly before her fifth book was published, she became a full-time writer. [2] She is a member of the Liavek shared-world anthology. In 2009, Wrede donated her archive to the department of Rare Books and Special Collections at Northern Illinois University. [5]
The book collects ten fantasy stories by Wrede, together with a recipe associated with one of the stories and notes by the author concerning the inspiration of some of the stories.
