The Cox's Bazar Express (Bengali: কক্সবাজার এক্সপ্রেস) is a non-stop intercity train belonging to Bangladesh Railway – East Zone that runs between Dhaka and Cox's Bazar railway station from 1 December 2023. This is the first commercial train that gives service in Cox's Bazar. [1]

Cox's Bazar Railway Station is a railway station in Bangladesh, situated near the bus terminal of the city of Cox's Bazar. The railway station was officially inaugurated on 11 November 2023 and is considered the first iconic railway station in the country. [1] [2]

The train takes approximately 21 hours to cover a published distance of 1,521 kilometres (945 mi), traveling along a stretch of the Karachi–Peshawar Railway Line. It was inaugurated by Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on 15 May 2015 at Islamabad railway station .

In the same year, railway connections from Dhaka to Narayanganj and Dhaka to Mymensingh were established. After the partition of India and the creation of Pakistan in 1947, Dhaka became the main city and capital of East Bengal (later East Pakistan). In that time, the railway line used to go straight from Tejgaon railway station to Fulbaria. [9]
