History. In the territory of present-day Gornja Klisa, there was an ancient human settlement dating from 1000 BC. This is the oldest known human settlement in the present-day territory of Novi Sad. In the medieval period (13th-16th century), a settlements named Gornje Sajlovo (Zajol) and Vašaroš Varad (Vásárosvárad) existed at this location.

Bistrica (including Satelit) is one of the most populated urban areas of the city.

History. In the past, this area was known as Gornje Sajlovo. In 1237, two villages named Sajlovo (Gornje Sajlovo and Donje Sajlovo) were mentioned to exist in this area. The original name of these settlements was Isailovo. The settlements were named after monk Isaija from a nearby monastery that existed in the 12th century, east of Rumenka.
