Mirroring won't fill the TV screen. The iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and the iPhone 4S or prior an aspect ratio of 3:2, neither of these will fit exactly into a TV screen which as an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Apple TV will not zoom the mirrored image, because it may well cut off information which is situated at the top or bottom of the screen.

Getting rid of an old tv on screen mirroring I have read a lot of posts and no one has seemed to figure out how to get rid of an old tv on the screen mirror menu on an iphone. Not really a big deal, but it's annoying to have that old tv still there.
Any time I select full screen in Airplay from iPhone to Apple TV, Samsung or L&G Tv it fails and shows the device's Airplay screen. Works fine in window but stops immediately on maximising / full screen. This looks like a consistent Apple issue. Have they / anyone seen any resolution. 000's of Google searches on the subject with no response.
