The normal alkaline batteries are pretty equivalent between the three major brands - Rayovac Alkaline, Energizer Max, and Duracell Coppertop. From a SHTF perspective they'll last 6-7 years no problem. Next grade up is Rayovac Proline, Duracell Ultra Advanced, and Energizer has some lithium products.

I have several radios that work on house current and 6 D-Cell batteries. The total battery voltage using batteries comes to 9 volts. I have deep cycle boat batteries and want to be able to use the radios using the 12 volt batteries. I want to be able to use them with house current when it is available but 12 volts batteries when house power is out.

  5. Calculating amp-hours? - Homesteading Forum

I was looking at deep-cycle batteries in Auto Advantage the other day and none of them showed the AH capacities of the different batteries. They showed the voltage, and the cranking amps, and stuff like that, but not the AH capacity. I'm looking for something in the 80+ AH range for a battery-powered fence charger. Any thoughts on how to do this?

  6. Battery, inverter for chest freezer | Homesteading Forum

5 amps times 120 Volts times 4 hours is 2400 watthours. A 100AH battery times 12V is 1200 watthours. I figure you'd need at least 4 of them and paralleling that many batteries is a bad idea. Look for 4 or 6 volt batteries in the 400AH range so you don't have to parallel them. Yes the freezer will cycle but for off grid you need to figure worst ...

  7. Charging 18v tool batteries from solar. | Homesteading Forum

A motorcycle battery should work fine but a car battery or deep cycle battery would work far better. Or even better, a series of 18650 Lithium Ion cells stacked in series and strung in parallel to make a 12 - 13 volt battery. A motorcycle batter is a poor choice for solar. Its not going to handle the charge cycles.

  9. DT466 batteries not getting a charge from new alternator?

The DT466 has two batteries in parallel. If one of the batteries has a major problem that problem can cause the entire charging system to malfunction. Check each battery separately before going deeper into the charging system. Agmantoo. If they can do it, you know you can! Reply Like. Seeria Discussion starter.

The higher voltage is easier on the batteries and pump. I'd suggest contacting whoever put in the system to find your best option. WWW.

This summer the directional arrow on mine was freezing up too and turning the computer off and back on only helped for a few minutes and then it would freeze up again. Mine is not wireless, I went to the store and bought a new corded mouse and that was all that was needed. Situation normal again.
