In 1984, Allen coached three gymnasts to the Olympic gymnastics team. Jim Hartung and Scott Johnson made the team while James Mikus was an alternate. Allen also coached gymnast Trent Dimas who was a gold medal winner for horizontal bar in 1992. [3] Allen was the longest-tenured head coach in the history of Nebraska athletics.
