After strong recomendations, our firm finally bought bentley Ram structural System. I have used, staad, etabs, midas gen at various firms, and this is my first time with RAM SS, and i am surprised to learn RAM SS is incapable of assigning a two-way load distribution type floor deck to a simple...

RAM can do this, but you have to add dummy beams. I've never done a flat plate structure, but did attend a RAM seminar on this about 2 years ago. I can't say I remember much from it other than it is possible. I recall a lot of references to RAM Concept, but I don't remember if that was specifically for PT or if it was for flat plate as well.

  4. RAM Structural Systems 1 - Eng-Tips

RAM Structural System is a very powerful assembly of integrated programs, especially when you add the interoperability with programs like RAM Concept and RAM Connection. However, like anything program you use, you need to spend some time browsing their technical notes to understand what exactly the program does.

We were looking at updating our 3-D analysis software, we were looking at choosing either Bentley RAM Structural System or CSC Fastrak. We are trying to locate something that compares the pros and the cons of both products. Could anyone shed some light on some of the advantages and disadvantages of these products. Thank you, Dennis Boley

BTW, Ram Structural System is another program altogether, though it has a lot of integration with Ram Concept, the title of the thread might be misleading. RE: RAM structural system for PT design rapt (Structural) 2 Jan 14 16:40

Hi Everyone, I'm new to RAM Structural System and currently having problems with getting the detailed reinforcement drawings for the already designed structural elements (beams, columns and footings). I already tried the "framing dxf" and the "col_foot dxf" commands on RAM Manager but the...

We have a building we are designing in RAM Structural System. We are fairly new users of the program. The floor diaphragm has a portion I'd like to separate from the main diaphragm. I can't seem to find a place to do this in RAM. Is the a capability of the program? I know I used to do it in CSC...

  10. RAM Structural System self weight question - Eng-Tips

    www.eng-tips.com/threads/ram-structural-system-self-weight-question.372663

To see if RAM is calculating the mass, I think you need to look in RAM Manager Criteria>Self Weight. If self weight is not included in the surface loads, I would start by looking at the slab/deck definitions. Note: with RAM, the weight for dead loads and the mass for seismic are defined separately.
