Tight ends are considered "hybrid players" because they are a cross between a wide receiver and an offensive lineman. The "Nose Tackle" is still a DT (Defensive Tackle) with a different name. In this formation, the linemen often line up directly in front of the offensive line, while the linebackers "shoot the gaps". There is also a variation of this defense called the 3-4 under defense. This defense is a one gap version of the 3–4 defense.
