Chastain Memorial Park (originally known as the North Fulton Park, commonly known as Chastain Park) is the second largest city park in Atlanta, Georgia. [1] It is a 268-acre (1.08 km 2 ) park near the northern edge of the city.
The land, which was owned by Fulton County, was previously leased to Vulcan Materials. The creation of the park was tied to efforts by the American War Mothers to erect a memorial to fallen soldiers from Fulton County, Georgia who had died in World War I.The location selected for the memorial was a triangular tract of land located at the intersection of Peachtree Street and West Peachtree Street, two major thoroughfares in Atlanta. The venue is now owned by the Parks & Recreation Department of Fulton County. It has 20 trap and skeet shooting combination fields, and nine lighted areas. The facility has been host to several NSSA State and Zone skeet tournaments. The range is also home to recreational shooting leagues such as the Atlanta Skeet and Trap League.
