The hotel, in 2017. The Croft Hotel is a historic building in Croft-on-Tees, a village in North Yorkshire in England. The hotel was constructed in 1835 by Ignatius Bonomi, to accommodate visitors to the old and new spas. [1] [2] In about 1860, a ballroom range was added to the west. The building was grade II listed in 1988. [1]
The architect Ignatius Bonomi extended Witton Castle and built the Croft Spa Hotel and the now-demolished Clervaux Castle near Croft for Chaytor. Chaytor was made a baronet in 1831. He served as a Whig Member of Parliament for Sunderland from 1832 to 35 and was a supporter of Earl Grey and of the Reform Act 1832 .
