Ci Liwung ("K. Ciliwung "), bottom center in the map of rivers and canals of Jakarta (2012)The Ciliwung (often written as Ci Liwung as the "ci" prefix simply translates as "river"; also as Tjiliwoeng in Dutch, Sundanese: ᮎᮤᮜᮤᮝᮥᮀ) is a 119 km long river in the northwestern region of Java where it flows through two provinces, West Java and the special region of Jakarta.
In Banten Province there are four river regions (Indonesian: Wilayah Sungai); two of them are under the authority of Banten Province, i.e. Ciliman-Cibungur and Cibaliung-Cisawarna, whereas the other two are under the authority of the central government, i.e. Cidanau-Ciujung-Cidurian and Ciliwung-Cisadane.

Baru Timur River (Indonesian: Kali Baru Timur; Eastern New River) is a man-made canal flowing from Ci Liwung in Bogor Regency to Jakarta, Indonesia. [1] It was one of two canals built in the 18th century under the order of Governor-General Gustaaf Willem van Imhoff originally to transport agricultural harvest from Bogor to Batavia (now, Jakarta). Sunda Kelapa (Sundanese: ᮞᮥᮔ᮪ᮓ ᮊᮜᮕ, Sunda Kalapa) is the old port of Jakarta, located on the estuary of the Ciliwung River. "Sunda Kalapa" (Sundanese: "Coconut of Sunda") is the original name, and it was the main port of the Sunda Kingdom. The port is situated in Penjaringan District, of North Jakarta, Indonesia.
Many people refer the names redundantly using both the Indonesian word sungai and prefix ci-, for example, Sungai Ciliwung ("Ciliwung River") translates to Sungai Sungai Liwung ("Liwung River River"). Some river names in Hokkaido and Tohoku end with -betsu (For example, shikaribetsu River ) or -nai (For example, Yarikirenai River ).
There are a total of 21 rivers and 61 tributaries in the watershed area of (Daerah Aliran Sungai/DAS) Ciasem of 745 km 2. Compared to the other two main rivers - Ci Punegara and Ci Lamaya - Asem River and its many tributaries all flow only within the Subang Regency. The river has a total length of 60 kilometer until the northern coast. [4]
