Doki Doki Literature Club! (sometimes abbreviated as DDLC) is a 2017 visual novel video game developed by Team Salvato for personal computers.The story follows a student who reluctantly joins his high school's literature club at the insistence of his friend Sayori, and is given the option to romantically pursue her, Yuri, or Natsuki.

One day after school, Tohko looks in the literature club's mailbox and finds a bunch of scraps of paper with mysterious short phrases and strings of numbers. After they stake out the mailbox, they discover an emaciated girl, who says she is Kayano Kujo, wearing the school's old uniform and proclaims that she is already dead.
The novel, which takes place on Lake Superior, is separated into the four seasons. However, before the book begins in Summer it opens with a prologue. The prologue seems out of place but it fulfills an important part of the plot of the book. The four seasons, as follows, are summer, fall, winter, and finally spring.
