  2. iOS 18 Mail broken with IMAP Path Prefix - MacRumors Forums

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/ios-18-mail-broken-with-imap-path-prefix.2436826

However now in iOS 18 the Mail app just keeps refreshing when using IMAP Prefix Path so I had to remove it but that means now I get a really ugly folderview. I tried moving away from the " [Gmail]" prefix but it seems that's the default IMAP prefix in Gmail so it shows greyed out now. On my Mac (Sequoia) I have no issues at all with the IMAP ...

  3. Apple Mail-push notifications for Gmail? | MacRumors Forums

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-mail-push-notifications-for-gmail.2393699

Feb 26, 2024. #12. cateye said: It's not, actually. Mail.app on iOS and iPadOS does not support IMAP IDLE which would allow for push-style notification of incoming mail, at some cost of battery life (this is how Mail.app on MacOS is able to offer immediate notifications of incoming mail from any IMAP account).

  4. Apple Mail or Outlook for iOS app? Help me decide on which one is...

    224. 121. Dec 5, 2022. #2. Apple Mail is better and generally more secure in my view. Outlook uses proprietary protocols that have been found insecure a couple of times and likes to use very insecure presets. And it's just really bad to deal with, even though the apple version is usually better than the one for Windows.

    565. May 6, 2023. #1. So I'm banging my head on this issue. iOS 16 (all of them up through 16.5 beta). iPhone 14 Pro (not sure it matters). - Mail app is running - background - throughout the night when on my charger (and daytime, even if NOT plugged in) - light blue bar in battery usage. - I have four email accounts, three active (iCloud, MS ...

  6. iPhone Apple Mail or Outlook app? - MacRumors Forums

Sage, Lightning, and Mountains. May 8, 2020. #3. Have used both. If you are on 13.4.1 and the Mail app gives you problems (bugs) I would go with Outlook. If you are on 13.5 Beta and can live with the bugs in Mail, use Mail. Personally, till Apple fixes Mail, I am sticking to the app designed for the email I am using.

  7. Is this New Message bottom bar new in Mail app?

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/is-this-new-message-bottom-bar-new-in-mail-app...

I got this new bottom bar today out of the blue, Im on iOS 15.3. I dont remember having it before, feels like this is one of those server side updates. I think this new bottom bar makes the icon on the right kinda useless, now we have 2 different buttons to create a New Message.

macrumors P6. May 16, 2015. 16,196. 11,666. Jul 16, 2022. #2. That modern authentication is more on the Office 365 and Microsoft 365 side of things (business and enterprise subscription) than "outlook.com" (aka personal email) thing. If you have an "outlook.com" account, it doesn't matter whether you pick Exchange or "outlook.com".

  9. Gmail vs Mail app on iOS, is there any benefit to the latter?

Earth. Sep 20, 2023. #3. I can mainly think of disadvantages when using Gmail via Apple Mail - to name a few, fetching email and sorting it with labels is just way smoother in Gmail app. The only possible AM plus I can think of is its UI, if you prefer it to that of Gmail app, but functionality-wise I still find Gmail better.

  10. Mail app with folder-specific notifications | MacRumors Forums

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/mail-app-with-folder-specific-notifications.2363998

If that's what you expect or if you have a paid Gmail account with push (Exchange) you can try this: In iOS Mail, add the pertinent folders to the top area (Favorites) of the "Mailboxes" list. In Settings>Mail>Notifications>Customize Notifications>Favorite Mailboxes set Alerts ON and pick a sound. Then hope it works. Seems to.

  11. Mail app takes up 6.8GB of storage - MacRumors Forums

    forums.macrumors.com/threads/mail-app-takes-up-6-8gb-of-storage.1997991

Below steps fixed it for me. 1 - removed all mail accounts - freed about 1 from 5 Gb. 2 - used Dr clean and some other clean apps - freed few Mbs more - not sure this step was needed. 3 - removed mail app and added it back again via App Store. This step freed half a gig.
