Cruz Martínez (born June 21, 1972) is an American record producer, songwriter and musician. [1] He is a former member of the Tejano band La Sombra.In 1999, he joined the cumbia music group Los Kumbia Kings, created by A.B. Quintanilla. [2]
Many members of Kumbia All Starz, Kingz One, and Los Super Reyes were formerly together as Kumbia Kings, which had much success but unfortunately, this was bittersweet for the group amidst the controversy and love/hate relationship between the co-producers of Kumbia Kings, A.B. Quintanilla and Cruz Martínez, as well as the other members and ex-members of the group.
Los Kumbia Kings 1999 debut album, Amor, Familia y Respeto, immediately sold over 500,000 copies and earned them a Grammy nomination. 2001 brought the album Shhh!, which in its first week, was number 2 among all Latin releases, and stayed at the top for almost 2 years.
