The ABS-CBN News Channel was originally established in 1996 as the Sarimanok News Network or SNN. SNN was the brainchild of the late Eugenio Lopez, Jr. who envisioned a 24-hour television network that would become the primary source of news and information for Filipinos. On May 1, 1996, SNN was first offered on Sky Cable.
After shutting down its terrestrial and regional stations, ABS-CBN started distributing its own programs on Kapamilya Channel (a cable channel), [8] Kapamilya Online Live (a web-based channel), [9] and A2Z (a free-to-air channel in partnership with ZOE Broadcasting Network). [10]
