Then the Glock 49 came out and I'm like oh my God that's perfect that's exactly what I want! Getting one Glock 49 should be less expensive than getting a Glock 47 and a Glock 19 but it might depend upon Blue label or not and pricing of course.
People have been asking for a Glock 1911 and a Glock PCC for literal decades - to the point that it’s become a meme. Those will never happen. My issue with the 45/47/49 isn’t that they’re finally moving to a truly modular platform (about a decade too late), but that they’re doing it so slowly and without sharing a roadmap.
Glock 49 Opinions So the Glock 49 aka 19L just dropped and I'd like to know from anyone whos owned or shot it how is it, especially compared to other Glocks. I'm looking to get my first one soon and because it's a hybrid of what I wanted out of a Glock this one is very appealing to me.
No haha if you buy the G45 and G49 you will not be able to configure a gun that is Coyote and with night sights… But yes G49 + G45 gives you 4 configurations. In my opinion the only 2 (4) 9mm Glocks you need unless you like subcompact or comp shooting. I have 19x and 49 but run Glock 47 and 19

The glock 47 slide is the same as the 49, but not the 17. The 47 uses the 17 slide LENGTH with a 45 frame, making it basically the same dimensions as the 17. This is why people say they are “essentially” the same, but it uses a 19 frame rail length, which is why there is that small gap between the slide and front rail.
The Glock 49 is a 19 lower with a 47 upper. You can put the 49 upper on a G45 lower and make a G47, and the G45 upper on a 49 lower to make a G19. Reply reply
They had the Glock 17, and the Glock 19. Then they released the Glock 19X/45. They they released the Glock 47, which exists because a contract wanted greater parts compatibility between the Glock 17 and 19. And with the Glock 47, you could take a Glock 19, swap the whole upper half, and get a Glock 45 and Glock 19L.

Also unless your grandson wears large or Xl gloves, the 19 grips size is the best starter Glock as it bridges conceal carry size. Lastly 49 and 47 are long slides (aka 19L) so getting the two only creates two different guns with four permutations, where both are exactly the same before the switch but with different numbers on the slide.
