At first, the two stations simulcast most of their schedules. But by the 1970s, WBIR-FM had its own Top 40 format and today is classic rock WIMZ-FM. In 1956, WBIR added a television station, WBIR-TV channel 10. WBIR-AM-FM-TV were owned by a consortium headed by J. Lindsay Nunn and his son, Gilmore Nunn. The Nunn Family bought WBIR in 1944.
After 10 years, the WTNZ-WATE collaboration ended, and WTNZ entered into an agreement with NBC affiliate WBIR-TV to produce local news. On March 28, 2011, WBIR took over production of the nightly newscast and expanded it to one hour on weeknights. Later that year, a two-hour morning show produced by WBIR-TV was also added. [24]

He retired from WBIR in December 2000. He returned to the anchor desk for much of 2006 when his replacement left the station, and re-retired at the end of 2006. He is now anchor emeritus, he occasionally does some reporting, He currently Co-hosts Friends Across the Mountains Telethon and the Children's Miracle Network telethon on WBIR.
