Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra (KUK) is a university established on 11 January 1956 [2] in Kurukshetra, in the Indian state of Haryana, 160 kilometres (99 mi) from the capital, Delhi. [3] It is a member of Association of Commonwealth Universities .

Kaithal was previously a part of Karnal district and later, Kurukshetra district until 1 November 1989, when it became the headquarters of the Kaithal. It shares a border with the Patiala district of state Punjab and the Kurukshetra, Jind and Karnal districts of Haryana. Kaithal district is situated in the North-West of the Haryana state.
It is a Haryana state-government engineering institute situated in the campus of Kurukshetra University. In 2002, the government issued an order to promote the existing REC, Kurukshetra to the status of National Institute of Technology (NIT), consequently becoming an independent deemed university separated from Kurukshetra University. Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University was established as Kurukshetra University Post Graduate Regional Centre in August 2007. The university was established by Government of Haryana vide an ordinance on 4 July 2014. The university was inaugurated on 25 July 2014 [2] and recognized by the University Grants Commission as a State University. [3]
NIT Kurukshetra awards undergraduate B.Tech. in various engineering fields in a four-year programme. [2] It offers postgraduate (PG) M.Tech. degrees in similar engineering fields as well as Physics. The M.Tech. degree is awarded after four semesters (two years) or two semesters for relevant PG diploma holders. [3]
