Hilton Head Island, often referred to as simply Hilton Head, is a Lowcountry resort town and barrier island in Beaufort County, South Carolina, United States. [8] It is 20 miles (32 km) northeast of Savannah, Georgia (as the crow flies), and 95 miles (153 km) southwest of Charleston .
The historic site and ruins are located in between Baynard Park Road and Plantation Drive within present day Sea Pines Plantation, a private gated community on the south end of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The site consists of below ground archaeological remains covering an area just under six acres and a series of four ruins.
