Soybean rust is a disease that affects soybeans and other legumes. It is caused by two types of fungi, Phakopsora pachyrhizi, commonly known as Asian soybean rust, and Phakopsora meibomiae, commonly known as New World soybean rust. P. meibomiae is the weaker pathogen of the two and generally does not cause widespread problems.
Phomopsis longicolla is a species of ascomycete fungus in the family Diaporthaceae. It is a plant pathogen and mainly responsible for a soybean disease called Phomopsis seed decay (PSD) . In other plant species, P. longicolla can also live as an endophyte , such as in the mangrove plant Sonneratia caseolaris . [ 2 ]
Peronospora manshurica is biotrophic, meaning that a living host (most commonly the soybean) is required in order for the fungus to survive. [7] In order to initiate infection of its host, the pathogenic conidial spores are dispersed by wind, rain-splash, and run-off.
Fungal diseases; Alternaria leaf spot Alternaria spp. [citation needed] Anthracnose ... Soybean cyst nematode Heterodera glycines. Spiral nematode Helicotylenchus spp.
Phakopsora pachyrhizi is a fungus which has a spore moved by wind, called urediniospore. These spores are quite different from others as they don't need an open stomata or natural openings in the leaves.
Cercospora sojina is a fungal plant pathogen which causes frogeye leaf spot of soybeans. Frog eye leaf spot is a major disease on soybeans in the southern U.S. and has recently started to expand into the northern U.S. where soybeans are grown. The disease is also found in other soybean production areas of the world.
Colletotrichum truncatum is a fungal species and plant pathogen on soybeans. [1] They are endophytic on Euphorbia hirta with another plant pathogen Uromyces euphorbiae (in the Pucciniaceae family and Pucciniales order). [2]
Phialophora gregata is a Deuteromycete [1] fungus that is a plant pathogen which causes the disease commonly known as brown stem rot of soybean. P. gregata does not produce survival structures, but has the ability to overwinter as mycelium in decaying soybean residue.
