Now the oldest soccer club in Massachusetts, the Bolts attracted the finest coaches and players in the Boston area, and rapidly grew to a coed club of national recognition. In 1994, the girls U19 Bolts captured the USYSA National Championship title, becoming the first and only girls team from Massachusetts to win the prestigious national title.
The ECNL was founded as a girls' soccer league in March 2009 during a meeting of 40 founding clubs. [1] Its founding was inspired in part by frustrations experienced by clubs and coaches with older volunteer-driven organizations, such US Youth Soccer and the American Youth Soccer Organization, in favor of a more professionalized approach. Ashland and Westwood wanted out of the Dual County League and gained TVL membership in the early 1970s. In 2002, Norton was readmitted, as the 10th member. In 2017 Dedham joined the TVL from the Bay State Conference as the 11th member. [13] Norwood also from the Bay State Conference became the league's 12th member a year later.
