Harris grew up in Vicksburg, Mississippi and attended St. Aloysius High School, where he played football and ran track. In two seasons as the Flashes' starting running back he rushed 362 times for 3,649 yards and 47 touchdowns and was named the Warren County Offensive Player of the Year by The Vicksburg Post both years.

[1] He attended St. Aloysius High School in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he played offensive tackle and defensive tackle and earned first-team all-state honors, as well as second-team All-American honors, as a senior while compiling 37 tackles and a sack and helping St. Aloysius gain 2,596 rushing yards with an average 7.2 yards-per-carry.
St. Aloysius was founded in 1879 by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. In 1906 St. Mary's School was established by Sisters of the Divine Word. Several school consolidations occurred. In 1989 the Catholic schools in Vicksburg administratively merged into a single institution, Vicksburg Catholic School, in 1989. [3]
