Decatur is located on Iowa Highway 2 just east of I-35, 4.5 miles west of Leon and approximately eight miles north-northeast of Lamoni. [ 8 ] According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 0.40 square miles (1.04 km 2 ), all land.
