Wolfgang Petersen (14 March 1941 – 12 August 2022) was a German film director, screenwriter, and producer. He was nominated for two Academy Awards for the World War II submarine warfare film Das Boot (1981).
Das Boot is a German television series produced by Bavaria Fiction for Sky One [1] [2] and a sequel to the film of the same name, based on Lothar-Günther Buchheim's book Die Festung, [2] [3] the series focuses on events on land and sea in World War II.
