In computing, POSIX Threads, commonly known as pthreads, is an execution model that exists independently from a programming language, as well as a parallel execution model. It allows a program to control multiple different flows of work that overlap in time.
GNU Pth (Portable Threads) is a POSIX/ANSI-C based user space thread library for UNIX platforms that provides priority-based scheduling for multithreading applications. GNU Pth targets for a high degree of portability.
Like LinuxThreads, NPTL is a 1:1 threads library. Threads created by the library (via pthread_create) correspond one-to-one with schedulable entities in the kernel (processes, in the Linux case).
The TlsGetValue and TlsSetValue functions are then used to read and write a memory address to a thread-local variable identified by the TLS slot index. TlsSetValue only affects the variable for the current thread. The TlsFree function can be called to release the TLS slot index. There is a Win32 Thread Information Block for each thread.
This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the Pthreads article. This is not a forum for general discussion of the article's subject. Put new text under old text.
A PDF file is organized using ASCII characters, except for certain elements that may have binary content. The file starts with a header containing a magic number (as a readable string) and the version of the format, for example %PDF-1.7.
Chemical table file (CT file) is a family of text-based chemical file formats that describe molecules and chemical reactions. One format, for example, lists each atom in a molecule, the x-y-z coordinates of that atom, and the bonds among the atoms.
In thermodynamics, a component is one of a collection of chemically independent constituents [a] [1] of a system. The number of components represents the minimum number of independent chemical species necessary to define the composition of all phases of the system.
