Oct 19, 2022 at 3:57 PM. FMLA is federal unpaid job protection. You need to apply for that through your employer as they are the one that grants as it is their liability. As I understand it, California does provide disability paid benefits for mothers and then paid family leave in addition to disability.
Aug 3, 2022 at 1:30 PM. I think you have it mixed up. I’m in CA and we get 4 weeks off before birth and 6-8 weeks off after paid through disability. 6w vaginal 8 weeks c section. This is 60-70% pay and you file a disability claim. In California we also get family bonding leave (PFL - paid family leave).
For time off: CA Pregnancy Disability Leave allows for job protected time off for up to 16 weeks. The time can be run concurrently with the 12 weeks of FMLA entitlement. This protects your job for the time off once your doctor says you need to stop working, usually 4weeks prior to delivery.
