Much like its predecessor, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is a hack-and-slash action role-playing game with gameplay similar to the Dynasty Warriors series. Players will control characters from Fire Emblem: Three Houses including Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude, and a new character, Shez, who like most avatars in the Fire Emblem series, can be either male or female.
Byleth reappears in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, an alternate timeline of Three Houses. They act in an antagonistic role, nearly killing the game's protagonist Shez at the start of the game. Depending on the actions taken by Shez, Byleth can either stay an enemy or be recruited as an ally.
Edelgard was later announced to return as one of the main playable characters of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, a musou spin-off set in a parallel universe from Three Houses. In this game, she and the others are instead rescued by Shez, a mercenary rival to Byleth, which triggers a series of alternate events to happen from the main game.
