Lisa is angry at Shauna for abandoning her, and they have an argument that ends with Lisa crying. The police arrive and arrest Homer and Chalmers for serving alcohol to minors, but the beer is nonalcoholic because Homer forgot to add yeast to it, so they are freed. Homer finds Lisa and comforts her.
Once they are assembled, the Simpsons sit down to eat dinner. When Lisa places the centerpiece on the table, Bart removes it to make way for the turkey. In the ensuing scuffle, Bart ends up throwing the centerpiece into the fireplace and it burns to ashes. Lisa runs to her room sobbing, and Homer and Marge punish Bart by sending him up to his room.
Lisa gets teased by Sherri and Terri about her big butt, making her embarrassed and self-conscious about her weight. Later, Ned finds his Grandma unconscious and the Simpsons children gone, much to Homer and Marge's despair. In the city, Bart goes into an alley, where he finds Kearney, Dolph and Jimbo. The bullies take his tricycle, but Lisa starts crying and they decide to leave them alone. At this moment, Bart realizes Lisa is smart and they make a good team.
Lisa, saddened with guilt, tries to stop doing magic; however, Homer, saddened by his daughter's melancholy, tries to reassure her, only for her to start crying as Homer comforts her. Homer goes to Raymondo's mansion to demands he forgive his daughter, but gets caught in a diamond-patterned net.
In her love-induced stupor, she nearly kisses a running fan held by Maggie, until a horrified Marge finally intervenes by taking Lisa off the medication.
