The CEE 7/7 plug fits in either French or Schuko sockets. It is rated at 16A and looks similar to CEE 7/4 plugs, but with earth contacts to fit both CEE 7/5 sockets and CEE 7/3 ones. It is polarised when used with a French-style CEE 7/5 socket, but can be inserted in two ways into a CEE 7/3 socket.
The socket also accepts Europlugs and CEE 7/17 plugs. It is rated at 16 A. The current German standards are DIN 49441:1972-06 "Two-pole plugs with earthing-contact 10 A 250 V≅ and 10 A 250 V–, 16 A 250 V~" (which also includes CEE 7/7 plug) and DIN 49440-1:2006-01 "Two-pole socket-outlets with earthing contact, 16 A 250 V a.c."
The 20 A plug has a blade rotated 90° (opposite blade from what would be the "line" blade on a 2-15 or 5-15 plug. This prevents accidental insertion of plugs into outlets that use different voltages), and the 6-20R receptacle has a T-shaped hole to accept both 6-15P and 6-20P plugs (similar to the 5-20R receptacle accepting 5-15P and 5-20P plugs).
