Phoenix Plaza is a mixed use office complex located in midtown Phoenix, Arizona. It was built between 1988 and 1990 at a cost of US$158 million. There is 1,600,000 square feet (150,000 m 2) of office space plus 225 hotel rooms. Phoenix Plaza has three hi-rise office buildings, a large parking garage and a hotel tower.
Prior to 1964, public accommodations in Phoenix and Arizona were segregated: African Americans were not allowed to stay in the hotels in downtown Phoenix. The structure, which is listed in the National register of Historic Places ref. number 95001081, is the only known surviving African-American boarding house in Phoenix.
In 2013, the building was the last of the Mortgages Ltd. properties to be sold off, going to CSM Lodging for $7.9 million. [4] The building was renovated from 2014 to 2015, with assistance from the Phoenix Community Development & Investment Corporation and the New Markets Tax Credit Program, and opened in December 2015 as a Hilton Garden Inn.

[1] [3] In July 1999, Florida Panther Holdings, Inc. acquired the property from Grossman Company Properties for $228.5M ($126M cash, $100M Florida Panther stock, and $62.5 debt assumption).
