SilverTracker Well-Known Member. I am with B-man and Clawcoins that Provident does come out a bit cheaper than the other big online dealers. I have ordered from Apmex, Provident and JM Bullion with no issues what so ever, but like discussed do your homework to get the best bang for your buck. SilverTracker, Jan 20, 2017.
Govmint's price for a 1oz 2012 Silver Maple Leaf = $42.95. Provident's price for a 1oz 2012 Silver Maple Leaf = $33.51. Govmint's price for a 1oz 2012 Gold Maple Leaf = $1,899.00. Provident's price for a 1oz 2012 Gold Maple Leaf = $1,703.50. Seems to be a steep markup there. Peter T Davis, Jan 19, 2012.
Absolutely!! I agree with the above. With that said, you may have a better chance of getting cash through a private party other than a coin dealer. Most coin dealers who have store fronts, at least in my area are very law abiding ppl and may want to keep a paper trail of all their transactions. fretboard, Aug 25, 2009.
Often the buy/sell spreads are fairly close and the margins are thin on gold bullion. This might have been a dealer that doesn't have any place to sell or hopes for large margins (and that people will need to sell and thus accept any offer). I just called around and got some more realistic quotes $1,450 and $1,460.
But you'd be surprised how many legitimate, decent late Roman bronzes (LRBs) or even ancient Greek bronzes can be found there in that price range. To me, the idea of buying a coin from 300 B.C. for $8 is mind-boggling, especially when you consider the price of a 1909-S V.D.B. penny.
I have doubts about both of the $3 gold pieces. The relief does not look right on the 1854. It looks too shallow, and I don't like the wire rim or the "extra rim" around the coin. Here is a certified example. The dentiles on the reverse look inconsistent to me on the 1882. They are thick on the lower right and thinner on the upper left.
I just made my first order from JM Bullion because they had a better price on the 2017 5 oz ATB Effigy ($98.55 vs. $103.50). I saved about .90 on my 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle too. It all adds up I guess. RhinoEmpire, Jan 26, 2017.
Marc is one of my favorite dealers. I have bought many coins from him. He has an excellent selection, great prices, and professional service. I have to add Incitatus Coins as one of my favorites dealers as well. Gregory Johnston, Jan 8, 2020.
gxseries Coin Collector. Not too sure what you mean there gladiator, but Drimiti Markov is an extremely well reputated dealer when it comes to Russian numismatics. As well as, he was the one who handled the most expensive Russian coin, Konstantain 1825 ruble, which went over half a million USD. gxseries, Jul 6, 2006.
