    If you want to remove all the tab characters, you can search for ^t and replace with nothing. Clearing tab stops doesn't actually remove all the tab stops in a paragraph; it just removes the user-defined ones. There are default tab stops at half-inch intervals across the page that Word uses if you don't set custom ones.

    This works find to a point! But to get the "Section 1" part of the heading centred on the page, I have to remove the default tabs from my document, BECAUSE, the Heading 1 format style inserts a tab indent after the no. eg "Section 1->". This then causes all existing sytles within my document which use the default tabs to be left aligned!
