The National Premier Leagues (NPL) is a men's national association football competition in Australia which acts as the second tier of the sport in the country below the A-League. The NPL consists of the highest level state league in each state-based federation within Australia.
Football NSW have re-organised the leagues for the 2023 season, reducing the number of leagues from four to three while increasing their size to 16 teams. In the prior season there was no relegation, with four teams promoted from League One to the NPL competition.

The Football NSW League is an Australian soccer league based in New South Wales that was founded in 2022 and administered by Football NSW.It consists of two divisions that were named after the Football NSW League's breakaway of the National Premier Leagues NSW second and third divisions (and formerly fourth division) that ran in the NPL NSW system from 2013 to 2021.
However, as a result of a court challenge involving Avondale FC and Football Victoria, it was agreed that eight rounds of games from the 2022 NPL Season would also count towards the 2021 NPL league table, enabling sufficient matches to be played to "complete" the season, and be able to declare a Premier for 2021.
